For those of you, who don't know, we're talking about UTA HAGEN'S ACTING CLASS.

SANDY MEISNER: THE AMERICAN THEATRE'S BEST KEPT SECRET is a great one, too. And Mamet gives all sorts of interviews on it!

:O)Brandon Walkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11779715823310861242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8177899598425985108.post-2283585053748408762012-05-25T19:17:47.356-04:002012-05-25T19:17:47.356-04:00I used to love how uta

I used to see them on pbs late at night and I found alot of similarities of the activity and meisner and how she set up alot of her scene work. I am defintely going to buy her book this week. I agree with bens take that you probably should study somewhere else first before you study mamets way. I do have to say I have enjoyed reading a practical handbook for the actor because it does simplify approaches to the work especially when you come from a meisner background as I did.ned lynchnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8177899598425985108.post-53741607016290072782012-05-25T19:06:41.135-04:002012-05-25T19:06:41.135-04:00Ariel I have read larrys book twice and I loved it...Ariel I have read larrys book twice and I loved it.Besides his technique which brandon articulated wonderfully he also describes his life as an actor and director
and his work with coaching actors specifically michael clarke duncan for his movie with tom hanks the green mile. Dead on about Mamet, after years of honing his instrument, he was able to use his technique. The inexperienced and inflexible actor cannot begin with his technique. We must train our bodies and voices and the way a musician plays his scales. And in the same way a pianist must join left and right hand in harmony, so must we with body and voice.Ben Leasurehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03240252898811982267noreply@blogger.com
