I feel that way too. I remember one day when ...YES! I feel that way too. I remember one day when I was in the theater during tech for TWELFTH NIGHT, and in my head I was running through all of the things that I needed to do in order to have industry people come to see the show. I was panicking because I thought that if I couldn't get people to see my work, my time would have been for naught. I then had this huge realization... I had been so focused on how THIS show was going to get me my NEXT show that I had forgotten to actually revel in the art I was creating. That realization had a profound effect on me and has changed my view on my work as an artist ever since.

Thank you so much for your comment. And, PS: I'm holding you to that applause...Erin Cronicanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15913894629937435170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8177899598425985108.post-86285594552624856482012-10-16T19:34:25.838-04:002012-10-16T19:34:25.838-04:00I will applaud your two-step!
For a great percen...I will applaud your two-step!

For a great percentage of actors there is a constant fear of jobs "drying up" or never being there in the first place. The business side of this industry is something that I personally have always been aware of. Never liked it, but have always been aware of. And, it wasn't until recently that I acknowledged to myself that I was putting too much value in being a "business minded artist". I will not fully ignore that necessary evil, but I am now striving to DO ART because I love it, and it makes me happy. To stop worrying about the growth projection of EVERY project, and simply be happy with creating. Maybe I don't fully put the business of art out of my mind...butI will definitely put it on hold for a while while I just let my Freaky ART-Flag fly!Robert Kinghttp://www.robertnking.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8177899598425985108.post-46725810432976444372012-10-01T12:36:24.865-04:002012-10-01T12:36:24.865-04:00I can imagine you would! I wonder if it's dish...I can imagine you would! I wonder if it's disheartening to see that, or if it simply inspires educators to work that much harder to keep the art going.
